Swedish/Relaxation

This type of massage is designed to relax the entire body by massaging the muscles in light, long, gliding strokes, in the direction of blood returning to the heart. It promotes deep relaxation, helps increase the level of oxygen in the blood and improves circulation.

Therapeutic/Deep Tissue

Therapeutic massage focuses on relieving pain coming from a specific problem in the muscles such as frozen shoulder or tennis elbow and may or may not require deep tissue massage and light stretching. Deep Tissue massage is great for breaking down scar tissue and getting into the secondary and tertiary muscles. People usually refer the feeling to as “it hurts so good”. DT can treat musculoskeletal issues, strains and sport injuries.

Prenatal (Pregnancy)

This massage focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through the dramatic changes of pregnancy. Some pressure points will be avoided and this massage uses lighter pressure, especially on the legs to avoid clotting. Adjustments will also be made so that the client is not laying straight on her back or stomach.

Reflexology

This modality involves the application of pressure to specific points on the feet, hands and head. These points correspond to all glands, organs, parts and systems of the body. Only the hands, feet and head are massaged during a reflexology session.

Cupping

This type of therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine. It removes stagnation and stimulates the flow of Qi (vital energy) by using cups that create local suction on the skin. The suction of the cups will help raise the stagnant blood and impurities to the surface to be flushed out so that new blood and cells can start to circulate.

Full or Partial Lymphatic Drainage

A gentle massage that uses specific and professional techniques to move lymph fluid through the body to reduce and relieve swelling. The lymph system doesn’t have a pump like other systems do so sometimes the lymph nodes can become blocked. Manual Lymphatic Drainage helps get the fluid, waste and toxins moving in the right direction, to then be flushed out. Great for swelling, pregnancy and pre and post surgery.

Hot Stones

Hot stone therapy is comforting and deeply relaxing. This massage utilizes heated basalt stones as a way to use heat therapy and to get into the muscles a little deeper. The minerals from the stones promote healing. I incorporate the stones in with a standard massage and let them sit on the different chakras to balance the mind and body.
